How a Holiday Side Hustle Became Northern Colorado’s Sweetest Tradition
Katie’s Bakes began eight years ago with a simple goal — to help a friend pay for her education. What started as a Thanksgiving pie fundraiser raised nearly half of what was needed and sparked something even bigger.
When Christmas came around, Katie — a creative cook who never followed a recipe the same way twice — decided to try something new. She spent two weeks in her kitchen, experimenting until she perfected a recipe she’d be proud to sell. That’s how the classic cinnamon and orange rolls were born — the same beloved recipes used today.
What began as a holiday side hustle has grown into a full-time business built on connection, community, and the belief that good food brings people together. In February 2024, Katie officially rolled out her dream and launched Katie’s Bakes full time.
